Can:Do Hearing, in conjunction with Can:Do 4Kids, are the state’s most experienced provider of services for children with hearing concerns.
Appointments are carried out by a paediatric audiologist who has extensive experience in assessing children from 6 months of age.
We provide a full range of children’s hearing tests and audiological services through our accredited audiology practice as well as access to a multidisciplinary team to support your child’s needs.
The available services may include:
- Hearing assessments for children from 6 months
- Assessment of ear health (including middle ear examination)
- Audiological support for children enrolled in the Can:Do 4Kids Listening and Spoken Language Program
- Auditory processing assessment and management
- Cochlear implant mapping (including device management)
- Assistive listening devices, such as personal listening devices
- Hearing protection and customised earplugs
- Soundfields, Rogers, assistive technology and classroom acoustics
Hearing loss is ‘invisible’ but the earlier it is detected, the better outcomes you will get for your child and for your family.
When might my child need a hearing test?
There are many reasons it can be wise for your child to have a hearing test
- Your child may not respond to soft speech or environmental sounds
- Notice a difference in your child’s responsiveness
- You are concerned about your child’s speech and language development
- You’re concerned about your child’s listening behaviour
- Your child has had a history of middle ear infections
- There is a history of hearing loss within your family
- Peace of mind
